Lights Out!

Tonight is “Lights Out for the Environment.” Across the world, people will be turning off their electricity for five minutes between 7:55 -8:00 P.M. in an effort to draw attention to the plight of th environment and to global warming.

Tonight’s “Lights Out” campaigns is similar to the frequent observations of silence for victims of tragedies, and it is an attempt to bring some effort of quiet solidarity to people across the world who are concerned about global warming and other environmental issues.

Even the lights of the Eiffel Tower will be turned off in observance of the “Lights Out” campaign. The campaign was started by France’s Alliance for the Planet, and the idea has taken hold elsewhere.

So turn your electricity off for five minutes tonight. Better yet, buy Green Power and conserve the energy you do use.

you know this wasn’t advertised very well here. All I saw of it was that the Eiffel Tower was going to turn its lights out re: global warming but they never said it was a global campaign.

Too late now… but hey, maybe I can start something local??
