What a Bunch of Porkers!
Jenn at The Lactivist received a cease and desist order from counsel for the National Pork Board for–get this–trademark violation. Apparently her “The Other White Milk” slogan sold on Cafe Press tee-shirts was too close to the porkers’ trademarked slogan “The Other White Meat,” and, according to the porkers’ counsel, significantly diluted the slogan’s message.
According to Jenn, those shirts made only made a total of $8–hardly a threat to big pork.
Is someone really going to confuse pork with breastmilk? Seriously. Is breastfeeding such a lewd act that it would actually tarnish the gleaming image of the national pork board? Is a mother cooking dinner really going to be so confused by the two messages that she forgets all about the other white meat and serves her family a big jug of the other white milk?
It seems to me that this is just another sad case of corporate bullying. Check out her site, though, she’s uploaded a copy of the C/D and it makes for an amusing read.
To hell with the other white meat; let the piggies be and the lactivist be. I really wish I’d have been one of the two to purchase the tee-shirt.

That is ridiculus.
In Astoria, Oregon there was this guy who named his coffee shop Sam Bucks and the big coffee giant made him change his name.

I hadn’t heard of Sam Bucks. I heard of The Limited Co. going after Victor’s Secret. It just irritates me to see the big guys bullying the little ones. Arrgh.

What is her website so that I can check it out… how did the pork council find out about a person who only sold two t-shirts? Am I missing something.
