Thankful Thursdays
Julie at Raising Contentment introduced me to Thankful Thursdays a few weeks ago, though I haven’t had the opportunity to sit down and participate. I love the idea of reflecting on what there is in my life to be thankful for in my life each week. Too often, we become so encumbered by the trappings of our day-to-day struggles that we forget just how much we take for granted and how little we appreciate.
This week, I am thankful for …
- Julie for introducing me to Thankful Thursdays in the first place. While I’ve never met Julie, or the many wonderful and supportive people I’ve come to know online over the years, I’m thankful for the support they’ve offered and the information I’ve gleaned from their insights.
- A Sunny March. I’m thankful that the breeze sweeping through town this March is warm, and that I can toss off my heavy winter coat and don sleeveless tank tops and summery dresses. I’m thankful for being able sit on the benches along Elk Avenue with my son, the warmth of the sun’s rays warming our skin.
- A Perfect Pear. I’m thankful for this perfect organic bartlett pear sitting on my desk. It is as a perfect as a pear can be: rounded bottom, curvy lines and thick stem. Kelly green freckles speckle its pale, soft green skin and a perfect blush of red spreads from its round bottom to its top on one side. I bought it because it’s beautiful, and it’s too perfect to eat–at least right now.
- My Husband’s Tulips. I’m thankful for the white-tipped, magenta-colored tulips my husband brought to me yesterday afternoon. They remind me of Amsterdam, and how we eloped two years ago our son still tiny and alien-like as he floated in the warm wetness of my womb. They remind me of him, and I’m thankful for him. They’re sitting on my desk now, and every time the drudgery of the work day begins to add up I look at them and find joy.
- Clean Water. I’m thankful for clean water, a forgotten luxury. It’s nice living at the top of the water source. The water is clean, pure and it tastes so good.
- A Decent Job. I am thankful for a job that pays the bills and allows me to live in a place that is beautiful. While I’m certainly not getting rich here, we make enough to get by and a full-time, year-round job in a ski town is hard to find. I’m thankful to have a job that requires little overtime and allows enough freedom for me to enjoy time for myself as well.
- Fair-trade, Organic Chocolate. Because it’s so darn good.
What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursdays!
What a grande idea. Hmmmm I’m thankful for so much.
I had to run my 7yo to the ER this morning and I’m thankful he’s ok and doesn’t have appendicitis.
I’m also thankful that there was a hospital to run to.

wow! That is one of the best Thankful Thursdays I’ve seen. You’ve helped me be even more thankful! I’ve enjoyed your blog also, I feel like I know you, you live in the same state as I do, but we are blogger friends (isn’t the concept so weird?). Anyway, I look forward to more in the future.
enjoy your day!
