Mommy Blogs!

So, I missed my Tuesday blogroll, but I figured I can do it today. I’m trying to get into the habit of a weekly blogroll, but we’ll see how it goes.

I’ve been catching up on a lot of mommy blogs this week–some new, some old and some that went on hiatus and are now back in all their yummy mommy goodness.

I am a big fan of The Incredibly Carrying Cloth by Umm Ibrahim. She shares my complete love of all things that can be strapped and wrapped to facilitate babywearing. I really like her take on the Peruvian manta. Babies are meant to be worn. I still wear my toddler on occasion, though he’s awfully big now. It makes me feel all lovely inside when he looks at pictures of the two of us and lovingly sighs, “sling.” Oh, to be a mommy is a wonderful thing.

Jen from Only Who I Am is blogging again, and I’m eagerly awaiting an update on her Black Swallowtail Caterpillar. So, um, Jen, how goes the chrysalis?

And, of course, Shape of a Mother was a blog once but is now a full-fledged website. If you haven’t already taken a look at it, you need to. It’s a strangely beautiful look at how motherhood changes our bodies, and it’s certainly helped me come to terms with many of the changes I’ve seen in my own–especially when my breasts still bore livid stretch marks and my pasty, floppy belly was pastier and floppier than it currently is.

    Shucks, Jenny! *blush* I updated!

And i agree with you about Shape of a Mother. I think it should be required surfing for high school health class. My mom had never even seen stretch marks before mine!

I’m glad you updated! Now, I’m off to go check it out.

Shape of Mother is great. It feels really good to see the normal progression of motherhood as opposed to all those airbrushed women in magazines.
