Buy Nothing Day

Don’t be pulled in by low prices, post-Thanksgiving sales or any other nonsense. Today is Buy Nothing Day so celebrate by buying nothing at all.
Instead of spending money we don’t have on gifts that our friends and relatives have no use for, we’ve decided to celebrate today by not visiting a store, restaurant, coffee joint, gift shop or any other money sucke. Instead, we’ll be relaxing at home this evening enjoying our leftovers and reading books to our child. Should the mood strike, I might even pull my sewing machine out.
Remember, the biggest impact you can make is in reducing your consumption.
How are you celebrating Buy Nothing Day?

We’ll be doing the same. Did you see the great video on http://adbusters.org/metas/eco/bnd/#pig_on_mtv
Love your new site. You always have such great thoughts.

You couldn’t get me to a store on Black Friday if you gave me a million dollars to spend. No way. Hubby’s working, poor guy. I’m home with the kids, and we’re going through and “recycling” all their worn out toys…

We are also celebrating Buy Nothing Day like we did last year. I’m making homemade turkey broth, doing some laundry, reading books, playing games with my kids and making chocolate chip cookies tonight.

Dear green mommy, on Novembre 22nd I’ve chosen yours amongst the five… er… six blogs that make me think. I could be an Italian “green mommy” and my blog is in Italian, by the way.
I hope you appreciate.

I did not know about buy nothing day. But I enjoyed being home both Thursday and Friday. I enjoyed it. I am looking into changing the majority of my days into no buy days. Thanks for the inspiration.

Since I am way behind in reading blogs I didn’t know Buy Nothing Day was on Friday. We were visiting family in Wyoming. They did buy me a late birthday present and I believe Joe bought a poster - but that was it!

Oh - one more thing - Since we were in a small town it was locally owned so we did not buy anything from a big mass market retailer - so taht makes me feel better.
